COVID-19: What Can You Do?

People across the country are struggling in the economic wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, including many of our neighbors right here in Ellis County!

In Ellis County, we have overcome many difficult situations over the years, but nothing quite like the health emergency we face today. A looming crisis for local families is growing alongside the one in health care.  Community resources will be unundated.  Food pantries will be in high demand, and call for help are already pouring into 211 centers.

The United Way of West Ellis County Board of Directors have authorized the establishment of the Ellis County Coronavirus Response & Recovery Fund in response to the growing needs of our communities.  The Ellis County COVID-19 Relief Fund supports Ellis County residents who are struggling in the economic fallout from this pandemic.  100% of donations will be distributed to community-based organizations that are directly supporting residents & local families that are most affected by emerging health, economic & social impacts.

"United Way knows many people in our community are one missed paycheck away from a financial crisis," remarked Kasey Cheshier, United Way of West Ellis County Executive Director. "Our network of partners are working to provide needed assistance to families in the county.  This fund will support those efforts."

United Way is working with community leaders, including the Ellis County Health Department, local government, funders, school districts, and our service providers to identify resource & service gaps and begin planning for long-term recovery.  Your contribution to the United Way of West Ellis County Coronavirus Response & Recovery Fund will address immediate and urgent needs in our region, as well as longer-term challenges that will affect education, income, and health outcomes across our community.

Even as we confront uncertainty and volatility, together with you, we will LIVE UNITED to support our community. Ellis County has a history of coming together to take care of one another. And we always emerge stronger than before!
